Welcome to Essex Area, the Sun Parlour of Canada.

"Sun Parlour of Canada" is what makes Essex unique in Canada and that is reflected in our Area badge. You will also notice the land mass in the middle that represents the area we service in Scouting, including Point Pelee National Park - the most southern point in Canada. The red background represents our major agricultural contribution - tomatoes.

1934 was the year Scouting communities in Essex County joined together and founded Essex District. Over 1000 strong, one body working together to gain strength, weather the storms - this was the vision of Edward Strickland. Edward Strickland was instrumental in the development of Essex District.

Scouting as everything else goes through changes; for Edward Strickland his 40 years plus in Essex District saw many changes. During one of these changes his comment was "It has great possibilities", Edward Strickland did not want to comment regarding his feelings. The lastest change to Essex District occurred in 2002 - renamed Essex Area.
